David Archuleta - New Album In March!

American Idol runner up and pop sensation David Archuleta is set to release his new studio album “No Matter How Far” on March 26, 2013.
David is currently serving a two-year mission in South America for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “No Matter How Far” features a mix of new recorded material and previously unreleased U.S. tracks. The first single, “Don’t Run Away”, produced by British music producers The Nexus (David Sneddon and James Bauer-Mein), will be serviced to the AC Radio format in February.
David reached second place on the seventh season (2008) hit show American Idol as one of the youngest to perform on the show at age 16. He released his self-titled debut album the following year. Both the album and its lead single “Crush” peaked at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 and the Billboard Hot 100 charts, respectively. “Crush” went on to sell over 2 million downloads. David has since released the albums “Christmas From The Heart”, “The Other Side of Down”, and the covers album “BEGIN.”. He was the featured vocalist on the Mormon Tabernacle Choirs’ “Glad Christmas Tidings” album and PBS Special in 2011, and released “Forevermore” an album of Filipino standards in the Philippines in 2012.
“No Matter How Far” will be released on Entertainment One.

Album of The Day: David Archuleta – Begin.

David Archuleta dikaruniai suara istimewa. Siapa pun pasti tak membantah. Setidaknya jutaan orang yang memilihnya dalam ajang American Idol musim ketujuh di tahun 2008 memlih dirinya. Meski hanya finish sebagai runner-up, namun itu sudah menjadi bukti yang cukup. Setelah itu, Archie, demikian ia akrab dipanggil, telah melahirkan empat buah album, David Archuleta (2008), Christmas from the Heart (2009), The Other Side of Down (2010) dan Forevermore (2012). Meski lumayan sukses, namun banyak yang menyayangkan karena album-album tersebut tidak benar-benar mengekstraksi kekuatan vokal Archie yang sebenarnya. Namun kini ia hadir dengan album terbarunya, Begin. yang percayalah, akan mengembalikan kepercayaan kita pada vokal juara Archie.

Memang, album yang memiliki amunisi 10 buah lagu ini, umumnya terdiri dari lagu lawas yang dinyanyi ulang. Namun dengan pemilihan lagu yang istimewa, jelas Archie dapat dengan lebih leluasa bernyanyi dengan kemampuan terbaiknya. Tampaknya ini merupakan sebuah kado istimewa bagi para penggemarnya karena setelah ini Archie akan melakukan hiatus sepanjang dua tahun untuk terlibat dalam kegiatan keagamaan.

Lagu-lagu yang terdapat di dalam Begin. adalah lagu-lagu yang cukup populer dan banyak dikenal oleh banyak orang, sehingga para pendengar akan lebih mudah terasosiasi dengannya. Sekarang tergantung kepada Archie, apakah ia mampu mengadaptasi lagu tersebut dengan baik atau tidak. Dibuka dengan Beautiful yang dulu dipopulerkan oleh Christina Agulera, tampaknya Archie sukses menjawab tantangan tersebut. Dengan penghayatan yang prima, Archie berhasil menghantarkan pesan moral lagunya dengan gemilang dan membuat kita merinding saat ia mendengarkannya bernyanyi.

Kesuksesan tersebut berlanjut dalam lagu kedua, Somewhere Only We Know milik Keane. Meski tetap hadir dalam koridor pop-rock alternative, namun Archie sukses menjawab tantangan dengan tetap menghadirkan ciri khasnya yang bernyani dengan penuh perasaan dan emosionil serta menyentuh. Tidak heran kita seolah-olah tertarik untuk turut bernyanyi dengan dirinya.

Sementara itu kesan megah yang sendu dapat kita rasakan dalam lagu Everybody Hurts milik R.E.M. Teknik bernyanyi Archie memang patut diberi kredit lebih, karena mampu mengajak para pendengar untuk terbawa secara emosi di dalam lagu ini. Hal yang sama dapat disimak dalam Angel milik Sarah McLachlan. Lagu-lagu dengan instrumen minimalis dan fokus pada vokal tampaknya bukan hal yang sulit untuk ditaklukan oleh Archie. Angel dan Everybody Hurts pastinya akan membuat para pendengar akan tersentuh hatinya saat mendengarkan.

Satu-satunya lagu duet di album ini adalah Don’t Give Up yang dulunya dinyanyikan oleh Peter Gabriel dan Kate Bush, maka dalam Begin., Archie mengajak penyanyi muda berbakat bernama Libbie Linton untuk membantunya. Lagu pop-folk ini memang terdengar sangat pas dibawakan oleh Libbie, yang tampaknya memang “beraura” folkie dan cukup membanting vokal penuh perasaan Archie, yang terdengar seperti, ahem, bernyanyi di ruang karaoke. Namun, terlepas dari itu, duet mereka cukup padu dalam membawakan lagunya.

Sebuah lagu lawas yang kini sudah dapat dianggap klasik, Bridge over Troubled Water, milik duo SImon & Garfunkel, menjadi bonus istimewa yang jangan sampai dilewatkan. Ditambah lagi dengan hits klasik lainnya, True Color milik Cyndi Lauper, menjadikan album ini terasa semakin kaya dan bergizi saja. Oh ya, Archie pun tak terlupa untuk tampil ngerock dalam salah lagu populer milik U2, Pride (In the Name of Love). Apakah Archie berhasil menjawab tantangan untuk tampil dengan sedikit lebih nge-beat? Yes he is!

Archie pun tak lupa menyisipkan sebuah lagu orisinial dalam Begin. dan this is it! This is the David Archuleta we know. Lagu balada menggugah dengan penghayatan yang prima serta kualitas vokal yang terjaga? Bisa ditemui dalam single terbarunya yang berjudul Broken. Istimewanya lagi, Broken ditulis langsung oleh Archie. How cool is that? Such a double threat! Melantun lembut di nada-nada rendah dan melengking dengan penuh perasaan pada nada-nada tinggi, Broken memang menjadi ajang unjuk vokal bagi Archie.

Album ditutup dengan sebuah lagu lembut, sentimentil dan manis berjudul Be Still, My Soul milik Jean Sibelius. Sebuah penutup yang sempurna untuk album yang sangat mengesankan. Setelah menyimak albumnya, kita dapat menarik kesimpulan jika Begin. adalah album yang istimewa dan inspirasional. Tentu saja ia dianugerahi dengan materi yang memang bagus namun ia juga memiliki David Archuleta sebagai penyanyinya. Dengan penjiwaan yang mumpuni ia cukup sukses dalam menjalan tugasnya sebagai penyanyi “daur ulang”.

Tentu saja ini bukan album yang sempurna. Archie pun mungkin bukan penyanyi terbaik di generasinya, namun jelas ia termasuk sedikit yang istimewa. Dan Begin. membuktikan itu. Smeoga saja, sekembalinya dari hiatus panjang, ia akan kembali dengan album orisinil dengan kekuatan yang sebenarnya, seperti yang ditunjukkanya di album ini.

Forevermore is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter David Archuleta. The album is composed of covers of Filipino songs and was released on March 26, 2012^[2] exclusively in the Philippines. This is Archuleta's first original pinoy music (OPM) album.

Album information

The album was released on March 26, 2012, under the exclusive licensee and distributor of Sony Music products in the Philippines, Ivory Records. International fans are able to purchase the physical album from the official website of Archuleta or download them digitally from MyMusicStore International, a music store website based in the Philippines.^{[citation needed]} The album became available on iTunes stores worldwide on April 18, 2012, but was removed from the store on April 23, 2012 due to unknown reasons.^[3]
The album also contains four bonus tracks, including the song “Nandito Ako” from the TV5 mini-series of the same name.

Singles

Both "Forevermore" and "Nandito Ako” were released both as official singles from the album, and became available as a digital download on March 15, 2012. "Forevermore" also received an official music video. Late in June, it was announced that "I'll Never Go" will be released as the album's second single. On June 11, Ivory Music & Video released a 33 seconds preview of the official music video for the song, which is set to premiere on June 24.^[4]
